Slightly geeky, overly cynical and delusional about my own self importance.

comment Convert Unix timestamp into human-readable format on AIX
You say you don't have the GNU utilities, what does which perl return on the server? Also, give that relies on your path and we don't know what that is, how about ls -l /usr/bin/perl.

For info: AIX comes with perl, I'm pretty sure it's installed by default. You don't need to use the AIX toolbox for Linux to install it, it's in the base image.

You could also use the chfs command. chfs -A yes /appli2/oracle/DATA/oradata05

I think the man page for logind.conf covers the requirements and format of the option. It's there in the Ubuntu man pages, for example.

comment Script from cron doesn't create archive
If it works when run from the command line, and not from cron, 90% of the time it is a problem with the user environment, because that is the key difference between running under an interactive shell and running under cron. You can diagnose this stuff by including more logging, checking stderr, and also running env at the start of the script and capturing the output. Even the $PATH is likely to be different.

comment Script from cron doesn't create archive
90% of the time these issues are caused because cron runs with a very minimal environment. You don't get the same environment as an interactive user session (under which you're manually running the script). So, make sure your script has the right environment setup.

comment Only met by a tty “login” prompt when booting Mint
There's a problem, and something is broken or not properly configured (I don't know what, but the behaviour you're getting is not normal).

Yep, we'll need output from the apt-get install command. Also, may be worth pasting the contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list and anything in /etc/apt/sources.list.d
