I have been actively using LaTeX for the last year for every kind of school report I have handed in, and it seems like new possibilities open up everyday I use it, which is why I'd like to delve a little deeper into this world.

I'm currently studying geology at the university of Iceland, and finding ways to aesthetically display information :D.

comment Have working headphone controller under Linux?
I have a Asus eee pc 1215N, which a quick google search suggests is not compatible with the controls. So I probably can't use the controls unless I change the audio connection.. I guess that might involve changing the motherboard :p

Those are headphones with a 3.5 mm jack with 4 conductors. So I guess my question should have been if my computer is compatible.

comment Options for .hidden files?
Nice, I'll have to dig through this and try and understand the code. This could easily be modified to take a list of extensions, yes?

comment Options for .hidden files?
Oooo, this is cool. But can this be modified to add filenames matching a chosen file ending to a .hidden file. The scenario where that would be beneficial is in a directory containing only a .tex and its associated files that I don't need to see. I assume the compiler couldn't find the files with the dot in front, so a more practical solution seems to be to keep the filenames (which will be constant) in a .hidden file

Unfortunately neither this solution, or the one mentioned in the other thread seem to fix this. :/ My package also insists on me using Sys.setenv instead of putenv.. don't know if hte new command is different?
