I have a 4 core processor with: model name : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz. I tried to use corei7 but it won't compile. gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/i386-and-x86_002d64-Options.html

upgrading gcc is not an option since I am not the root of the machine (or the cluster).
