Thank you. If you look at the Art of Unix Programming, Ch 7, modularity within a program is actually not seen as an expression of the Unix small tools philosophy, but only as a complement to it. See the 1st 4 paragraphs here: faqs.org/docs/artu/multiprogramchapter.html
