nohup does not make the process immune to kill signals, it makes the process ignore a hup signal, you can kill it with kill <pid> and it will die like the rest of them.

yes using mkdir is the way I make directory. You will have to edit your question as it appears you were asking why are you getting "ssh: /: Name or service not known"

I guess you did not write this yourself? The ssh line appears to be incorrect, looks like the author expects you to use either epmprj or dwived as the ssh username, not both.
