comment How do I count all the files recursively through directories
find works recursively through all sub directories by default. If you want it to work in multiple locations, you can specify all of them between find and -type.

It allows you to share /usr through NFS to other systems. But you could share it even if it is not a separate partition, that's true ... thinking aloud ... Is read-only mount a good enough reason?
