did you simply mv the files? Or did you use some graphical or other tool? Asking this because there are tools that instead of removing the files put them on a "wastebasket" area...

@syntaxerror --- I think it was not the problem, the system never asked a password not even when it has Windows on it. And the SSD was supposed to be used as a cache... anyway, is there a (linux only) way to check if it is security locked? I wouldn't mind to try.

They changed/reconfigured the internal hubs and now it works at MTU 1500 --- I am not sure is directly related, but could be. Thanks!

@mikeserv I agree it's possible to break it --- but with standard shell environment is quite safe. Almost anything can be broken with alias date=whatever before.... but yes, strictly, you are right.
