Single CD install of a RHEL-like distribution? My only caution is that Fedora has frequent releases that test new features. People always advise to keep this in mind when thinking in terms of stability. However, I use Fedora 14 at home + work and it runs like a dream. I love it. |

Book on Linux kernel driver development I think LDD is still an excellent starting point. You need to learn the basics anyway, might as well start there. Once you get your feet wet then you worry about newer kernel releases. |
