grep acting strangely Patrick: strace did the trick. Turns out there was an exceptionally large file there that was causing grep to act like it was hanging. Thanks for the tip! strace is awesome. If you post your comment as an answer I'll be sure to give you credit! |

grep acting strangely <Ctrl>-D does not do anything - I need to use <Ctrl>-C to kill grep. I agree though - it sounds like it is looking for input from stdin. |
