comment How to recover a shell after a disconnection
As far as I know you can't, unless there's some hidden way to redirecting the output from the yum command into your current term session but I can't think of one off the top of my head.

Ah thank you, well that's a bit of a pain, I was hoping having it running under screen would keep the process live and just have the X window 'hidden' until reattach.
