@AlexSchröder I've edited above. They should not import your snakeoil certificate, but if you've setup your own CA, it is reasonable for them import your CA. I haven't yet identified trust issues between SMTP servers. Most clients can be told to trust individual certificates.

Is the client accepting the offered address? Try ipconfig. The client should only renew every 6 hours or so.

@raz Auto-configuration using RA (Router Advertisement) packets will configure the router as well as the IP address. Link local addresses also auto-configure, but aren't routeable and don't configure a router.

@maxschlepzig See my edit for three options. (One is to use a tool more appropriate for incremental transfers.) Rsync is not designed to automatically handle your use case.
