comment Can I force Linux to boot its initializations parallel?
Take a look on systemd : wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/systemd From the main description: systemd is a system and service manager for Linux, compatible with SysV and LSB init scripts. systemd provides aggressive parallelization capabilities, uses socket and D-Bus activation for starting services, offers on-demand starting of daemons, keeps track of processes using Linux control groups, supports snapshotting and restoring of the system state, maintains mount and automount points and implements an elaborate transactional dependency-based service control logic.

comment How to install PHP 5.2.4 in CentOS release 6.5 (Final)?
@jsbillings the application is sort of abandononware an not well documented peice of software. Also CentOS is the distro of our production environments so in this case Ive no option. I'm by no means lecturing you just explaining my situation :(

comment Finding the logs in a hacked server.
Seems that the file in RedHat is /var/log/audit/audit.log still as I've stated before I beleive any hacker would empty it.

which services you had running? what does auth.log says? What does apache logs say? Also consider that any skilled hacker would empty such traces.

I agree with pulseaudio as responsable. Look at message #27 on this thread bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=556971 Look this lines: Severity: normal simply in default.pa commenting the lines load-module module-device-restore load-module module-stream-restore load-module module-card-restore solves the issue, too.

@jsbillings I need to install a home made application in a production environment. The only PHP version where the application is assured to work is 5.2.4 at the momment the application dies without any warnings.
