Yes, I tried both methods. Actually I tried with xterm and it works, so it's a URxvt problem! Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately it still does not work. The terminal just blinks. I also found this question on StackOverflow. Neither that helped...

Well it didn't let me use mv because it was an inter-device operation, so I had to cp first and then rm. But now everything's ok!
