comment Netflix works on chrome but not chromium?
I rather have debian/ubuntu compile the binaries I use on my OS. I was thinking about using trisquel which is a gnu OS but their newest version is terrible and ubuntu/debian is better supported. I can't figure out how to install widevine. I tried visiting the website tools.google.com/dlpage/widevine but it says linux is not supported. Before that I tried a apt search for widevine and it found nothing. I have no clue how to install this

Yep you're right those are some of the differences in my chrome and chromium browsers. How do I add the Widevine Content Decryption Module to chromium?

@goldilocks: I'm completely confused. I asked for non root installation so I wouldn't have security risk

Its two different situations. I'm trying to install a program in a way that it doesn't touch anything on the system the user doesn't normally have access to. Another example could be a modified version of VLC from a 3rd party I dont trust

The use case is using a machine I dont have root access on or giving someone access to my machine w/o root access. I don't want their installs to touch anything of mine. Also I don't care what distro it doesnt need to be debian

Sudo gives root permissions. I don't want any root access at all.

Actually there is a flag called force-not-root. But I run into other problems like not being able to access dpkg status and missing files/binaries. ldconfig problems also came up.

comment How do I make debian lightdm look like trisquel lightdm
You're right. If i type in nautilus in the terminal this appears. i.imgur.com/Mk9mUaS.png All that is left is the top right corner. It appears I have that theme. Now to figure out how to do the tweak you mentioned. It appears like nautilus is stuck inside another window

comment How do I make debian lightdm look like trisquel lightdm
After following your instructions I can say it looks EXACTLY like the way it did before. I installed gnome session fallback, nautilus, gdm and choose the default. It still looks the same as the 2nd picture. I did service lightdm stop; service gdm3 start. It looks exactly the same except the login (maybe was a glitch). Also if you look at Thunar wiki page you can see it looks the same as the first picture which is my goal

I tried it and restarted the system. Also E: Unable to locate package gnome-fallback. I believe trisquel 7 uses lightdm but I'm not sure how to confirm it. I do have a trisquel installation

comment crontab not executing my script?
This worked. Although I wasn't sure what I need to do to 'update cron' so I did crontab e and commented out an old line. One thing that confuses me is I dont see an obvious line that runs scripts on a minute basis.
