comment Netflix works on chrome but not chromium?
I rather have debian/ubuntu compile the binaries I use on my OS. I was thinking about using trisquel which is a gnu OS but their newest version is terrible and ubuntu/debian is better supported. I can't figure out how to install widevine. I tried visiting the website tools.google.com/dlpage/widevine but it says linux is not supported. Before that I tried a apt search for widevine and it found nothing. I have no clue how to install this

Yep you're right those are some of the differences in my chrome and chromium browsers. How do I add the Widevine Content Decryption Module to chromium?

Its two different situations. I'm trying to install a program in a way that it doesn't touch anything on the system the user doesn't normally have access to. Another example could be a modified version of VLC from a 3rd party I dont trust

The use case is using a machine I dont have root access on or giving someone access to my machine w/o root access. I don't want their installs to touch anything of mine. Also I don't care what distro it doesnt need to be debian

Sudo gives root permissions. I don't want any root access at all.

Actually there is a flag called force-not-root. But I run into other problems like not being able to access dpkg status and missing files/binaries. ldconfig problems also came up.
