no, this does not work. The second command brings LVDS1 back on and to the left of VGA1, but it shows the the primary part of the desktop.

what about printing text without the trailing newline? I tried your solution, using the -n option for echo makes the same problem as I had with my code.

@sourcejedi: you should put your comment as an answer; This is the right one; I replaced the UUID by the traditional device name (/dev/sdx#) and it works fine. The initrd was not done and it needs the system to be booted with the same kernel to make it.
