comment understanding LAMP: linux apache mysql and php
You can add the <VirtualHost> block anywhere in the apache configuration file. If you installed it as a user, I'm not sure where it is, but you can try find . | grep conf to find it in your home directory.

One more tip: you can add a line to your /etc/hosts file to setup nicer domain names instead of "localhost". Add a line such as 127.0.0.1 widgets.local and then you can use http://widgets.local in the browser.

comment Thunar file manager: Sort by column keyboard shortcut?
my apologies but I am unable to accept any answer at this time since I do not use or have access to Xfce any longer. If anyone confirms that this works please comment and I will accept it.

comment How to split the terminal into more than one “view”?
Ctrl A Shift S splits the screen, then Ctrl A Tab switches to the other split, and Ctrl A c creates a bash prompt. Is there anyway to have these commands run automatically when starting screen so we don't have to run the commands all the time.

comment How do I set up dual monitor wallpaper (Ubuntu/NVIDIA)?
The discussion of that bug is kind of all over the place. Someone claimed "I mean a silly work around is use GIMP to resize the wallpaper you want to put into the exact total screen solutions." I think the gist of it is that these people want an arbitrarily sized image to scale and span exactly how they want it. But what I'm saying is that you can create the image to the right size so the software doesn't need to adjust it. I don't think it is dependent on Xinerama or Twinview.
