@terdon My problem was that I also needed a log with the error, I forgot to write that. My problem can be solved by either IO redirection or by some of the other tips suggested.

There are two different rule files: /etc/iptables/rules.v4 and /etc/iptables/rules.v6 for IPv4 and IPv6 respectively. If you want a table to apply to both kinds of connections you have to save it to both rule files.

Thanks for your answer! So conv=fsync does "physically write output file data and meta data before finishing", what does this mean? Is it safer or why would I use it?
