My thoughts
Me on launchpad PPA
Evidently one of my mini-apps was useful enough to make it on to Webupd8
Do you use/like that app? Maybe you want to help fund a cryptogram game

comment How can I deny internet access to all processes except the chosen ones?
You could use iptables as suggested in the answer provided, but I think you're looking for a per process firewall. This doesn't exist at the moment. It's all port restrict/allow.

comment New users cannot connect to server via SSH
If someone wants to write an answer for this, here are the things to think about explaining: a config that isn't refreshed, the server not having the pub-key, or a client that doesn't support key auth only uname/pwd auth.

comment How to install meld 3.11 in Ubuntu 14.04?
if you asked what you think are ubuntu related questions on AU or searched there, you would find this: askubuntu.com/questions/161739/… which points to this libglib2.0-bin as the dangling dependency, but i digress...

either i have a dangling dependency from my current install that i can't see, or you have broken packages or you're using a broken distro or custom themes that break stuff. in any case , it works here

Check the README for directions on installing. It's located in the meld folder... It has a setup.py. It also has nothing to do with Ubuntu.

comment Are there distros with ptrace_scope set to zero by default?
Good to know that Debian yanked it back out. A process can call prctl and make itself not traceable with ptrace anyway, if it thinks it is going to hold data someone might be after.

In point of fact redhat did it before debian and canonical. Some Debian or Ubuntu enthusiast blogged raging about it and calling the decision retarded. I had to make this explanation to them, and explain that they shouldn't call a decision retarded without understanding the Why. If I wanted to use something like Jugaad in an offensive environment, it would be with some LD-PRELOAD tweak to inject a tiny .so in to every process and wait for one of them to escalate to root. Then flip the switch for me. So all I had to do is wait.

comment Why to use Kali Linux instead of “Ubuntu with Kali Tools”?
There was a talk at Derbycon from one of the core team members behind Kali about what makes it different and better in its own way, but I can't seem to find it with thirty seconds of Googling... which is about all I'll devote to a holy war.

Kali isn't based on Ubuntu. It's based on Debian

Why would you want the OSX version on linux and not the GNU version on OSX?

Given that git is for multi-user collaboration and it was written by Linus... I can't imagine there isn't a git-lock somewhere. It would require testing to find out though.

comment Create a deb package from difference between two images
It seems like a proper solution would be based off of dpkg --get-selections and modifying state based on diffing file state for anything generated in ~/.app or /etc/ ... I don't think there's a real solution though. People are trying to tackle it the other way with service orchestration tools like chef or juju.
