MySQL-proxy might be worth a look, although I've never used it dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql-proxy. From the documentation it seems like exactly what you need...if a bit of overkill

@psusi I rebooted because I wasn't sure chrooting from one to the other would get the right /boot area referenced by grub

Thanks. I had just noticed that you could get some opencl support for nvidia through linux abstraction and the binary driver, so I thought I would ask.
