@Gilles Yes, lpr is able to print PDFs on this Solaris machine.

@Gilles I am printing pdf files. The version of lpr is that included with SunOS 5.10. (I cannot find specific version information). I am beginning to believe this is something that will require a solution outside of lpr. (say with postscript).

I'm familiar with -p but I am printing PDF files. Is there a way I can do this with PDFs?

comment How to boot after RAID failure (software RAID)?
When I boot and select my kernel, the conf file is set to md0 and when I run it as such it says md0 does not exist. I can only boot directly from sda1 now. If you are more interested, I've recently asked other questions which give better characterizations of the problem. The consensus seems to be that my md0 is gone but it is still strangely showing up in mtab

Note to any future readers, my RAID array disappeared after running grub-install as above so I'd recommend looking a bit more carefully...

According to this, I shouldn't edit mtab bt elsewhere it says I should... still confused. serverfault.com/questions/518967/…

comment erased md0, md1 and can't recreate them
When I ran the LiveCD, I could not resize the file system because /dev/sda was busy. However, I wonder since if I previously had RAID on this disk if there is existing room for the superblock at the front of the device. How can I check?

When I run df -kh, I find /dev/md0 mounted on /. Do you think this is stale info as well? Do you have any insight into why md0 is hanging around but not visible in proc/mdstat? And by having stale info in fstab, that can persist after a reboot? Thank you.
