Debian 6.0 system with 2.6.39 kernel dropping packets, sandy bridge hardware I don't have an answer, but a couple of things to try: 1) use mii-tool to set your network card to 10 or 100 and see if the problem goes away, 2) use tcpdump and wireshark to see if the pings are getting sent at all, so you can tell if the problem is pings not being sent or ping responses not being seen, also is there any pattern to the packet loss- Every other packet? |

How can I pass module parameters for bonding driver when compiled into kernel 2.4? @Nils- Yes its an "appliance" installed in a rack several thousand miles away from my desk . I can indeed recompile and ship out a new kernel and find someone onsite to talk through the upgrade, I've been working on that currently in fact , but its a long and painful process and was hoping there was an easier way |
