It worked. Thanks. Not sure why, but am sure I had tried it once already in failure, but I tried again with success. Thanks.

Unfortunately my bridge server does not have netcat installed on it, so I'm trying to get this to work some other way. I figured if it could work from the command line, there should be a way to put the info in a config file.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I don't have netcat (ie: nc) available on the server. (It's an AIX server)

@danielkullmann Sure I can. I'm just trying to avoid doing that, and I would rather keep my ssh key on my local machine instead of having to put it on the bridge server as well.

@jasonwryan I think I might have something wrong in my config as it is not working. I've got the following in my .ssh/config for my remoteserver: ProxyCommand ssh -W %h:%p bridge_userid@bridgemachine.com.

comment Bypass sshd AllowTCPFowarding=no by installing own forwarder?
@Gilles If AllowTcpForwarding is disabled though how can the official SSH tunnel into another SSH listening on localhost? I actually tried that but got the ubiquitous "channel 2: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed" error, indicating (I believe) that the official SSH is unable to forward the connection to a local SSH.
