comment Getting sendmail to send mail at a specific time
A fairly nasty hack could be to hack up the php code and use the 'at' command via an exec() call but that really is quite horrid.

comment How can I get my external IP address in bash?
This didn't work for me on my rackspace cloud server.. it returned the LAN IP for some reason, whereas using whatismijnip.nl (the next answer) worked correctly. I'm not sure why this is but this is certainly worth taking into account.

I just tested it, although it might not replace the directory itself it does indeed work in the same manner as replacing the directory. Thanks :)

comment Running my own dynamic DNS record hosting
I wasn't intending on updating the registrar's NS records, just the dns records hosted on my own machine. Also, I was assuming there'd be a software solution to the problem hence asking it here.

You know I think this might well work! You're a genius. Marked as correct because I doubt I'll remember to come back here and mark it.
