How do I get a field in bash's job list using awk? Thanks, this seems to work great! The solution hinted at by manatwork is more general though. |

How do I get a field in bash's job list using awk? Unfortunately, when I substitute the single quotes with double quotes in my example, it returns some integer value. I assume the back ticks are to blame for this. However, if I don't use echo and drop the back ticks, it seems to work fine. Looks like I overcomplicated things. Thanks a lot for this hint, this is a more general and therefore better solution than using functionality specific to awk to pass shell variables. |

How do I get a field in bash's job list using awk? The 2nd argument is the column, the result is the field. |

How do I get a field in bash's job list using awk? I know, but shouldn't bash substitute the arguments with their values before it executes awk? So that $1 becomes 1 and $2 becomes 4 in my example. I mean, that's the point of using the dollar sign in a bash function, isn't it? |

How do I set bash aliases and variables from within vim? I added the ^z option to go back to the original shell, because it is a standard that's used by other programs as well. |

How do I get a field in bash's job list using awk? I need the $ to refer to the respective arguments. The function is supposed to receive the line number as first, and the column number as the second argument. |

How do I set bash aliases and variables from within vim? Thank you a lot for your detailed answer, but that's a bit too much ~/.vimrc trickery for my taste. I prefer the "use :let or drop out of vim and define them in the shell" solution from Ingo Karkat. |

How to open konsole in fullscreen mode? I already hid the menu and tab bar and set the profile to save the size and location. I still have to press the shortcut to go into fullscreen each time I open a new konsole window. I want it to start in fullscreen though, like xterm with its "-fullscreen" command line option. |
