No, sdb2 isn't your boot sector. That output from file is what you'd see on an extended partition -- an extended partition essentially contains a second boot sector inside it, which is what file is picking up.

"-f" is "--force" which overrides some sanity checks and prompting. A safer command to start with would be rm -r directoryname.
