Gnome-terminal slow to start from launcher, fast when started from terminal It did keep happening launching duplicate copies as well. Since then I have repaved the system and the problem did not recur; I never figured out why it acted the way it did, and now I never will. |

Gnome-terminal slow to start from launcher, fast when started from terminal @klapaucius I tried a new user, but that one has the same effect. Since there are no other answers, seems like I'll have to go the reinstall route. :-( I have no idea how to approach this otherwise. |

Any way to sync directory structure when the files are already on both sides? Are you sure the name uniquely determines the content of a file, otherwise you should consider comparing files by their checksums. |

Different linux distros sharing the same /home folder? I have a setup somewhat like this, but with a ~/Docs/ folder. That is where all "my own data" is, outside of this is other program data (specific to a machine or not). Key config files are regularly backed up from ~/ to ~/Docs/configfiles/ |

View Script Over SSH? @wag you are right; everything but step 6 works without, and that is the step I didn't bother (but clearly should have) testing. (it might have been nice if step 4 gave a warning about this) |
