I'm doing a PhD in computational physics, I use Unix primarily as a tool. I am pragmatic (tcsh) scripter, writing simple scripts to do tedious work for me.

Can't you add a line running your code to every user's .login file?

comment Saving files to NTFS is corrupted?
I have one external media drive I use for media w/ NTFS that works great with both OS, but for the /home drive it's always failed with me. My media drive is rarely mounted and always unmounted neatly. Also, I'll admit I've given up on NTFS on linux a few years ago so it might be better. But I've lost too much data to care to try again.

I use CentOS 6 (to have what the super-guru in our lab uses), but I used to use Ubuntu.
