comment Package name translation across different distros
True. Though I just concede, I hadn't thought of that. Yet, if one were to maintain such a list, handling groups shouldn't be too hard

Welcome to Unix&Linux. Please state the question you have clearly. What is it exactly that you're trying to accomplish?

comment Command redirection to multiple files: command >file1 >file2
I agree that the cat ... | tee approach is cleaner. Also, a system is barely ever so constrained that it cannot handle the extra call to cat. It's however another option.

comment wget not working but apt-get does
Could you share the output of Wget. Why exactly does it not work? What is the error? It would be even better if you can share the output with the --debug option when running Wget

comment In a shell script, How to give a variable another value after one job is done?
Not an answer, but you definitely should try to use more verbose variable names. Single character names are only a recipe for disaster

comment redirect output to specific line number
Why not split this into two commands. Let grep do its job and output to a temp file and then at NR==3, simply print the entire file at that location?

comment Mutt: define macro for a specific folder
You're right. I should RTFM more clearly. I had missed out on the . representing all folders and was looking for a regex like expression to get the things done.

comment Recommended file system for cloning AUR-mirror?
Why exactly do you wish to keep an AUR mirror with you locally? The AUR is extremely large, and it is highly unlikely that you will use even 1% of the packages listed on it. I'm assuming that you have some misunderstanding of what the AUR is and how it works.

comment Can i capture and send GET requests with wget?
What exactly are you trying to do? Wget does not "capture" network packets at all. If you want a look at the response to a GET request, sure.

comment Bash: Syntax Error on @()
Damn! I'm enabling extglob, but after the function is defined. Once I fixed the order, it works! I never came across this issue in the past, maybe all the other systems were setting extglob globally. Thanks a bunch!

comment Bash: Syntax Error on @()
No, I checked that multiple times. I think you found 1 extra paren which is a part of the switch-case syntax. This function currently works for me on Arch Linux, too.

comment How should I combine many compressed files into one archive?
Have you tried scripting it, so that you uncompress one file, add all the files to a given archive and then move to the next?
