comment Finding out whether rsync modified target?
Thanks. I'll try --log-format=SomeUniqueString which makes the rsync output easily grep-able to detect modified/added files. For files deleted in target, I'll still have to parse /^deleting /m pattern.

comment Tool to watch latest software releases from upstream?
Ah, of course. But again, reading the script I see that urlwatch simply performs diff of upstream's webpage retrieved in different times. More robust, yes, but too "primitive" for my taste.

That's eventually what I'll do. But I'm fishing for a prior art first here :)

@jasonwryan: If I glanced the script correctly, it watches for new Arch package version instead of new upstream version?

comment Tool to watch latest software releases from upstream?
Yes, I stand corrected. The debian/watch script will need to be updated by the maintainer if the upstream URL changes, but that happens with every watcher.

comment Activating colors in links2 (text mode)
Yup, it's /usr/bin/links2 and not a symlink. I also built links 2.7 from source just now and it's the same thing (no color, no -html-t-text-color et al options recognized).
