Synchronous notifications with notify-send and xfce4-notifyd? I was actually referring to notifications as in notification-dameon or notify-osd. I'm not looking to use dialogs. |

Udev usb mouse rule Well it works, but this is vendor or product dependant. Isn't there any attr or env varaible to identify a usb mouse by? PS: It's hex by default, no need for 0x |

Related to apt-get update command I doubt it's the case here, I guess it's the default apt.conf |

How to verify a CD against an ISO image? +1 for checksums. This is usually the de facto standard for comparing files(or directories) and not caring about knowing the differences(as is the case with diff): more minimal. |

GUI input for shell script As far as IPC goes D-Bus is a bit too much for a simple application, I suggest using pipes. |

Partition wiped out possibly due to the partition table changed by Windows, malicious software, or …? Check the output of fdisk -l to identify the partition and manually mount it with sudo mount /dev/<name>. If neither Ubuntu can see any files, they might have been wiped somehow. |

Partition wiped out possibly due to the partition table changed by Windows, malicious software, or …? When saying "leaving only one Windows system file bootsqm.dat" does that mean that partition still exists but only that file is left or that the partition is gone for good? |

Use command grep and locate Slightly more idiomatic than mine. |

Is there a way to create a directory structure and files inside a file on a 'base' filesystem'? You should probably try to sanitize the question a little, maybe make it a bit more succinct. |
