comment Is there a reason why the first element of a Zsh array is indexed by 1 instead of 0?
Maybe a bit off topic, but relevant. The Romans used inclusive counting, staring from one instead of zero. The day after tomorrow, to us "two days ahead", was to them "three days ahead." They counted today as one, not zero. As a consequence when their Egyptian astronomers recommended a leap day every fourth year, the Romans actually introduced it every third year, starting in 45 BCE. It took until 12 BCE for the error to be corrected.

comment Can I check a suspect .zip file without downloading it?
It is logically possible that there might be software that will check the format of a file without actually storing it on the file i system on my computer.

comment How can I delete a file named “>”?
Yes, it is partly given in tendon's answer, I agree, I just thought that this sequence is simple and made it explicit. As you'll see I tried to include it as a comment rather than an answer, but I don't know how to avoid it all coming out on one line. It also shows you don't need Python to create the file, another point also suggested in other comments.

Thank you Bssrd Kopperud and Anthon for two excellent answers. Unfortunately I can only mark one of them as "accepted"
