What is the Linux distro ranking based on number of packages? The data on this page may be a bit outdated. Last time I looked Debian had ~36000 and Fedora ~25000 (so a few thousands more than what is mentionned on Wikipedia). |

how to chown mounted device? An alternative on most modern distros could be to mount your device with udisks --mount /dev/something, which is the exact command line equivalent of what your desktop environment does. |

Differences in package management between Debian and Arch @Faheem Mitha: Pacman is written in C, and is a frontend to libalpm, which handles both "high-level" and "low-level" package management. |

Differences in package management between Debian and Arch @Tshepang: sorry, non-native english speaker here. I meant "this is not a big deal for me to not have this functionnality (debconf) and by forcing me to do things manually it forces me to know what exactly is done". |

How to remove duplicate entries in 'Open With' Nautilus dialogue? Yes. Some applications create duplicates which appears in the "open with" dialog like geany for you and I can remove them from here by editing gnome's Applications menu (in which they're present but hidden, so you don't see them by just browsing the menu, only in editor). |
