It's better, I removed my downvote.

Arno was talking of this post on the mailing list: saout.de/pipermail/dm-crypt/2013-September/003521.html

comment cpu time measurement with wait4 vs. cpuacct cgroup
@vonbrand Thank's for you thoughts. Yes, the machine is otherwise idle. Interesting to hear about interrupt servicing time. Shouldn't this be the same for both measurements? No idea why the time difference consistently reverses for larger measurements?

comment How to check that a daemon is listening on what interface?
@gaskopeter You can see the interface from the ip address which is shown (192.168.1.5 or a.lan in your question). If there is a * in this place, then it listens on all interfaces (*:ssh in sr_'s answer).

Using strace I could actually find out exactly what I wanted to know, so thanks again!

Thanks for pointing out the audit subsystems as an interesting alternative to strace. However, it doesn't seem to help here as it seems to logs only when the file is opened, and thus I can't find out how much is written into each file.

Thanks, I didn't know I can attach strace while the process is running. I will try this.
