comment Getting a short wifi password to work on Linux Mint
@JackLeo I wasn't being arrogant. The two most common wireless security protocols are WEP and WPA(2). Both use at least 8 characters for a passphrase, i.e. you can't have a passphrase with less. Therefore he might be using some more exotic protocol I haven't heard of (totally possible) and Mint doesn't support it either. But thats why I was ASKING him what encription is being used. You interpreted quite a lot into my comment.

What kind of encription do you have? I think WEP uses 10 or 26 characters, and WPA uses 8-63 characters, making Mints behaviour justified, no?

comment Permanently Storing a command in bash history
Great idea ;-) I'm interested wether that counts as "a solution like storing the command in a script file", and if so, what the reason for this requirement is.

Why would you not just put an alias in your .bashrc?

comment How do I search for Linux distro build tools?
@BruceEdiger Did I claim that the packager manager spontaneously appeared out of a cloud of smoke? If he based his new distribution on an existing one, he would inherit their package manager.

comment Have working headphone controller under Linux?
There are quite a few laptops with TRRS connectors, e.g. MacBook, HP Envy, Lenovo W. The additional connection is often used for a microphone, so I'm not sure how this would work with controls.

Which headphones? How are they connected to your computer/Ipad?

when i do iwconfig wlan0 the mode is Managed, does that mean my wireless card doesn't support Internet Sharing? Well, maybe. That is why I originally asked for your system specs.

I'd be very suprised if that is possible. Then again, I like nice surprises.
