comment Permission denied when accessing SSH server
@cas I migrated it here due to the fact that it clearly wasn't a professional systems administration question, though it wasn't a bad question otherwise. The Windows 7 bits weren't divulged until after migration. If I'd known that, I would not have migrated it. I'm not a Unix.SE mod, but if I were, I'd probably close this question now.

OK, this is stupid. You admit it. :) Perform a high-speed bailout of your current plan and to this on a proper linux/bsd server. Doing so will be a much more predictable process than trying to set this up within an emulation layer on a desktop OS.

If you didn't issue any iptables commands, then it's not yet set up correctly.

Is your server configured to NAT traffic from your OpenVPN subnet?

comment Now hosting a friend who relies heavily on htaccess files, but I use Nginx
Have your friend convert his htaccess stuff to what you need for nginx. It's your server, set (and stick to) your own rules.

Well, you haven't provided any evidence to show that.

Not trolling. You asked your question on a site for professional systems administrators, so expect to get professional-level advice. If I were in your shoes, removing the RasPi would be the first thing I'd try.

Maybe try some real hardware instead of the RasPi.

If you think a question is in the wrong place, just flag it for migration.
