I enjoy Java, JavaScript and Android. I love elegant design patterns and minimalistic code.
I am passionate about Linux, and my distro of choice is Arch.

How can I put my HDMI display into (and out of) power save mode? At the bottom it says DPMS is disabled. Turn it on: xset +dpms then your commands should work... |

How can I put my HDMI display into (and out of) power save mode? Okay. Can you edit your question with the output of xset q? |

How can I put my HDMI display into (and out of) power save mode? Do you get an error from xset or does nothing happen? Also what distro? If it doesn't work I would guess ACPI is not compiled into the kernel. As a diagnostic, please post the output of xset q. Thanks. |

How can I create a .deb package with my compiled OpenCV build? Hi there. Since this is generic Debian, would you mind if I moved this to Ask Ubuntu or Unix & Linux? |

Can I make pacman aware of packages installed manually? We actually managed to get it working using --root, which I'd somehow overlooked. I'll mark this as the answer, thanks. |

How can I set up SSH on Linux to log in password-less? PLEASE make sure that the ~/.ssh directory has 700 permissions! Otherwise your security is worthless. |

Can I make pacman aware of packages installed manually? Why would I want to install a package manually if I could just use pacman? Nevertheless, I understand your comment and will amend the question. |

Can I make pacman aware of packages installed manually? The readme isn't too clear on what the database actually is. |

Can I make pacman aware of packages installed manually? I'm guessing there's a database entry somewhere, but I can't seem to find the information that I want. |

Can I make pacman aware of packages installed manually? I thought I had made it pretty obvious that using pacman wasn't viable. Otherwise I would have just used pacman. |
