comment Why is “Asking all remaining processes to terminate” failing during shutdown?
No, the text moves by too fast to see, but the list had at least 20 items. This happens about 1 in 3 times I shutdown. It looked similar to what one sees when one types top, but with fewer columns of data.

comment Why did BASH print “bash: cd: write error: Success”?
The /home partition has much space available. I cannot find anything strange in ".bash_history", it is set to read and write only for the owner. Whenever I quit a terminal, the data from that terminal still goes there. Is is possible this came up because I was running multiple terminal windows at the same time?

comment Why did BASH print “bash: cd: write error: Success”?
typeset -f, alias, and which cd all return nothing, and the other files only contain PATH=~/.context/tex/texmf-linux/bin/:$PATH.

comment Why is my keyboard typing the wrong letters?
The computer does not appear to have an xorg.conf file. At least not in the places where the Debian wiki says there should be this file.

comment How to shutdown the computer from SLiM when root login is disabled?
After typing halt and a password, /var/log/slim.log has a line saying "slim: pam_authentication(): Authentication failure".

comment Why is my keyboard typing the wrong letters?
Can it be the keyboard's problem, if the problem only occurs in one application, Iceweasel, but not in other applications?

comment How to shutdown the computer from SLiM when root login is disabled?
Note, the system is setup to not allow root to login using su, but to allow sudo. Could this be interfering with SLiM trying to shutdown the computer?

comment How to shutdown the computer from SLiM when root login is disabled?
According to the config file, when "halt" is typed into SLiM, it should call "/sbin/shutdown -h now".

comment How to add a launcher that compiles some code in a terminal in XFce?
This opens a terminal and says, "bash: context: command not found". Perhaps it does not run .bashrc?

comment Why is my interface font larger with LibreOffice than with other GTK applications?
In Tools --> Options --> LiberOffice --> View there is a Scaling option, but it is listed at 100%. When I reduce it to 80%, the lowest possible value, the fonts are smaller, but are still larger than in the other applications.

comment How to safely shutdown computer during boot sequence?
I am not at a terminal where one can type. I just see all of the text from the boot sequence. Typing CTRL+x or CTRL+c just prings ^X and ^C.

comment Setting GTK2 theme for root
There is no .gtkrc-2.0 file in my home directory of the user account, yet I have a custom theme set. Does XFce4 store this information differently?

comment Setting GTK2 theme for root
Should the user account have this file somewhere? I think I could symlink or copy the file to the root folder, however, I do not see a hidden .gtkrc file anywhere in the user account. How are these settings stored for a user account?

comment ACPI conflicts with ACPI region SMRG
The only problem I have, is if the monitor goes to sleep, then it seem impossible to turn it back on, but I do not know if this problem is related to the error in dmesg.

comment PPPoE reports network is down
There already is a line for auto eth0, the next line is iface eth0 inet manual. When I change manual to dhcp, durign startup, DHCPDISCOVER spends about a minute testing various ports and finally reports, "No DHCPOFFERS received." I do not think that my ISP uses DHCP.
