How to tweet using terminal? +1 for TTYtter. I'm not a huge fan of Twitter, but it's definitely is one of the better clients. The Irssi plugin isn't that great, compared to TTYtter. |

Is learning a text editor like vi necessary and still worth the time today? OK, it's like this: The original vi is only used on UNIX systems, when the license fees are paid. Which of course doesn't happen on Linux-es. There is a plethora of vi clones out there. Vim or gVim is just the better known vi clone. The probably second best know clone would be nvi, which is used on *BSD. nvi is one of the more simple vi's out there. |

Which programming language is best to begin with as a total beginner? +1 for Python, since there's more and more sensible user applications written in Python. It's basically Python on Linux, and C# on Windows. Since Python easily works on both OS-es, I'd recommend Python as well. Java is cross platform as well, but Python just does right, what Java doesn't. |

Mount Google Drive in Linux? Yeah, they announced it's on it's way. But still no Linux client. I was hoping for an implementation by the open community with FUSE or something... |

How to encode huge FLAC files into MP3 and other files like AAC? Do you know by chance how to encode into AAC with tools like NeroAACenc? I don't like using FAAC, since it produces quite horrible results. There are no real good encoders for Linux, I assume... |

How to encode huge FLAC files into MP3 and other files like AAC? Yeah, it works; those are my options: flac -d --force-raw-format --endian=little --sign=signed <file>.flac -c | lame -r -s 48 - <file>.mp3. I use mostly default values. The file in this example: Endian: little, Channels: 2, Sample rate: 48kHz, Sign: signed, Bits per sample: 16. |
