comment Build binary and dependencies without sudo
Looks like it's --with-sysroot in the case of rtorrent.

comment mv * folder (avoiding 'cannot move' error)
This doesn't actually prevent the error from occuring. It simply hides it by piping it to /dev/null instead of to your terminal window.

There was a similar question on the Ubuntu SE (although for bash). Perhaps this works for zsh too? askubuntu.com/questions/91740/…

It seems this could be it. Where would I look to see what PolicyKit authorized?

@Kevin: "NOPASSWD" doesn't exist anywhere in the file. I have a line that starts with "Default" and three others, with varying number of "ALL"s and punctuation.

I'm pretty sure that is what this one is supposed to do, but I'm not getting anything in a text editor when I scan a bar code. I just found a PS/2 adapter lying around, so I used it since I don't have a PS/2 port on this computer. Possibly a broken scanner? I don't know how to check if that is the case though.

It comes up completely different. The data I'm getting is short enough that I can compare them each time and there's no similarity. After at most two scans after plugging in the scanner, it doesn't give me anything at all.
