comment How do I install user theme extension in Gnome in Fedora 16?
While building from source might seem daunting, JHBuild really makes the whole thing easy as pie. (And sandboxed, i.e., you won't mess your system with it.)

comment Why does only one network adapter ever get DHCP IP address?
I'm not sure in which way the USB adapter appears in your system; assuming it's usb0, you could try ifup usb0 -- if this works, auto usb0 should solve your problem. But I'm unsure about this, I suspected the USB device should end up as an eth* device (check dmesg) in which case your configuration should already work.

comment How to upload tcpdumps in realtime to FTP?
Hmm.. you could really try netcat. (There's a windows port, too, if that's what keeps you from using ssh.)

comment How To Install The GNOME 2 Fork 'Mate' Desktop (or similar) On Fedora linux?
Just FYI, Mate is not your only choice anymore: There's Cinnamon now, too, taking the approach of forking GNOME Shell to create a GNOME2-ish experience. (Github repository)

comment trouble with irssi and cifs
Can't answer this question, but some pointers: Here's what irssi does to save a received file (see void sig_dccget_connected), and here's someone's hints regarding the ETXTBSY. Maybe you can try to approximate what irssi does via command line to corner the issue?
