With some editing between differences for mac, I got it running with theme-watch | grep Recieved --line-buffered | sed -E -l -e 's/Recieved Update event on (.+)/\1/' | xargs -I file terminal-notifier -message file Thanks!

One last question! Let's say I have a process that's outputting animal sheep then food pizza then animal rhino then food hotdog how do I just have xargs run on animal and how do I parse out the animal string using regex /^animal (.+)$/ig?

I can restart the program. However I'm on mac and don't have stdbuf or unbuffer installed. Should I install one of those or is there another alternative caked into OSX?

I understand what you are getting at, however what confused me was how sudo would run within an alias and how unix would handle the password request process. I have used sudo before. I had no experience with how sudo would behave within an alias. Moreover that when sudo was run more than once within a command it wouldn't break the command and ask for the password before it finished the command. Thanks for your through clarification on sudo and expressing your concerns.

I realize your concern, would Unison need to be installed on my ssh web server or just locally? If you don't mind me asking, what is the significance of the each asterisk after the directory? I have never seen this syntax, is it a wildcard, why three?
