comment Ripping DVD in Debian Wheezy
Seems like there is no tool for ripping video format in Wheezy. Your only choice is to build your own package :(

comment Handbrake for wheezy?
I am trying to follow your steps, but I am not an expert here. How do I download the sources? I added deb-src to my sources.list file, but not sure what to do between this and running debuild -uc -us.

I was actually using acrobat reader among others, and the way @sim proposed did the job! I will accept your answer, if you create one.

The second option did the job, despite some warnings.

@MaxMackie, it could be even a command line tool, but I would appreciate an example in which I just need to substitute file names :)

@MaxMackie, I am looking for a really easy way. I am a bit worried that if I just start looking at a random software, it will be one of the more complicated ones, with gzillion options, etc.

@sr_, unfortunately I haven't heard about this stuff before. How would I use it?

comment Optimal SSD configuration
@N.N., definitely all the photos and multimedia files would not fit. I am pretty sure the rest would fit on a 240 GB+ drive, I would have to check if half of that would be enough.

comment Rygel slowing down my Debian system
Is there any way to configure it to have a smaller database, or disable it, or something - so that I don't have to kill it every time?

comment Default printing options in KDE 4 dialog
I did set up the default CUPS options (using some dialog boxes, can't remember which ones) - and I can see those when printing from non-KDE applications (e.g. acroread). However, KDE seems to ignore these.

Sorry for unaccepting your answer, I found a better way to do it from apt maintainers...

This doesn't seem to work. apt-show-versions only shows if the package comes from testing/unstable etc, and not from which repository.

Hi, thanks for your answer. I tried the pinning, but it doesn't seem to work - see the edit to the question.

Now I get the same message, but for video encoder. Which one is preferable? No video encoder (-ovc) selected. Select one (see -ovc help).

I tried just the cropping bit, but I get the following error message: No audio encoder (-oac) selected. Select one (see -oac help) or use -nosound.. How do I know which audio encoder I need?
