How to deliberately activate cooling fan of laptop?

Hi I have a laptop (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 4000), I'd like to control the cooling fan manually. How do I do that? /proc/acpi/fan/ is empty, the fan is otherwise working well. Distro is Fedora 14.
