I created a VLAN device via NetworkManager in my Fedora 19.

Also I need a specific MAC address, so I edit the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-VLAN and edit the MACADDR= variable.

But this didn't work and after the reboot the MAC address of physical LAN is set in ifconfig -a for my new vlan0 device. And I need to run su -c 'ifconfig eth0 hw ether <MAC>' to set the correct MAC.

What's the problem with setting MAC in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-VLAN file?

is there any HWADDR= entry in your vlan device config file? you should use either HWADDR or MACADDR and the later entry works only when you re-activate your vlan device via ifdown and ifup –  shawnzhu Sep 14 '13 at 9:24
