Unix & Linux Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for users of Linux, FreeBSD and other Un*x-like operating systems.. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm running Linux Mint 15 Olivia on my netbook at the office. Initially I set it up to connect to the Internet using an Ethernet cable via our proxy-server. At home I connect using the WiFi connection.

Afterwards the PC losses the LAN connection when I return to the office. It no longer shows the wired connection in Network settings and can't connect at all. Switching the WiFi on/off on the PC doesn't help.

Any solutions?

Could you open a terminal window and run three commands — /sbin/ip link, /sbin/ip addr, and /sbin/ip route — when plugged in at your office? Capture the information once while it is working, then do it again after it stops working. Add the six outputs to your question. –  200_success Sep 3 '13 at 8:19
