I've just tried setting up shairport 1.0-dev on the raspberry pi running Raspbian “wheezy” and it works fine when started manually (music plays and is discoverable). I then tried to make it start on boot and I get the following message printed on screen:

[FAIL] startpar: service(s) returned failure: shairport ... failed!

It then works when I manually navigate to /etc/init.d then type shairport from the terminal (this is the file from the scripts/debian/init.d folder on github). This then starts the service correctly so I'm not sure if this is a problem with the script or my setup.
