I bought a mini pc Android stick called "mk809 III" which is quad core and has 2 gig's of ram. I want to make it as my web server with Apache and MySql, to do this I got to install some linux distro on it. I had no luck installing picuntu on it.

I am looking for a good tutorial to follow !

Describe how you find it that it didn't work (it didn't booted, writing failed, android bootloader rooting didn't worked: etc, etc, etc). –  IBr Aug 13 '13 at 12:00

I followed all the instruction on how to make "ext4" file system and extract the "tar.gz" file to a microsd card, Then I flashed the recovery partition on the mk809III, but when I insert the card and make it to reboot to bootloader, It just stuck with black screen and nothing happens. What Should I do ?, I can't find the exact recovery firmware for this device, p.s The device is rooted with finless firmware –  Pini Cheyni Aug 14 '13 at 7:34

Did you get partition labeled as it should be by tutorial (linuxroot - as I recall)? –  IBr Aug 14 '13 at 7:36

Also did it show any messages? If it didn't yu do not even installed kernel bootloader, it should have been supplied with recovery.img from picuntu. –  IBr Aug 14 '13 at 7:41

Yes I labeled correctly , I can't find the correct recovery.img for this device but I saw on youtube that this is possible. I used the tools and 2 tutorial but still I had no luck, I can't find any tutorial specifically for this model –  Pini Cheyni Aug 14 '13 at 7:45

Picuntu is pretty „old“ and seems that is really targeted only to mk808 UG802 line, I suggest try new image with hardware acceleration and other stuff:

Try this image http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/77977-ubuntu-1210-complete-armmk808rk3066-desktop-solution-new-homeio-release-chromiumtrue-flash-gles-goodies-xbmc-easy-setup-and-much-more/

However be carefull it needs very much SD cardspace. You could try any other image from forums if you want. Maybe some will work.
