I've created a custom desktop session which upon login presents the user with a full screen gnome-terminal session. The idea is to have a TTY-like session but with the added advantages provided by X available to the user, such as video playback.

The terminal tabs however ruin the effect somewhat because for some reason they are not using the dark theme I have defined. When I have any tabs open a white box is drawn around the window edges with the tabs at the top.

How can I get these gnome-terminal tabs to accept the dark theme?

For reference I'm running Ubuntu 13.04.
