You'd probably be better off asking this on Stack Overflow. While android uses the linux kernel, the userspace is neither gnu nor posix, and you can't (last time I checked) build or install linux userspace packages on it anymore than you could do the same on iOS or windows, etc. – goldilocks Mar 11 at 13:41
@goldilocks Technically, you can build and install linux packages on all of those. – Kevin Mar 11 at 23:13
@Kevin : Technically in general NO YOU CANNOT, although people may have ported specific things using stuff like cygwin, cydia, etc. – goldilocks Mar 11 at 23:19
@goldilocks No need to yell, this is a civilized discussion. And you may need to compile supporting libraries too, but unless a program or its dependencies require kernel support that hasn't been ported, you can compile many packages without changes. – Kevin Mar 11 at 23:29
@Kevin : SORRY, I just like to be clear. I agree that it is not impossible and there is easily a point to doing that for iw, but if this is a serious issue for Hanaa s/he needs to clarify some context. This is not about "what switches do I use with apt-get". – goldilocks Mar 11 at 23:57

You will in fact need a the Linux platform to do this. You will also need to install git. The tools to compile should be included with whatever Linux platform you decide to go with.

The only other option would be to first root the device and then enable ADB from the shell prompt. Here is a link to the a great answer/explanation on how to accomplish this.
