I set up a virtual server Red Hat machine but every time I try to use the "yum" command to install new packages, the command works properly but it is never been able to find any package even the simplest and most common ones.

I have Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.5

Am I missing something here? I'm very new to Red Hat but I cannot seem to find anything about this in the internet.

Thank you,

What does 'ls /etc/yum.repos.d/' say? –  schaiba Feb 13 '13 at 17:42

This is what it gives: rhel5.5s-x64.repo rhel-debuginfo.repo –  Maher Manoubi Feb 13 '13 at 18:09

What does the /etc/yum.repos.d/rhel5.5s-x64.repo file have in it? –  John Feb 13 '13 at 18:20

name=Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 (64-bit) NO UPDATES baseurl=http://<company_repo>/repo-rhel5.5s-x64/ gpgkey=http://<company_repo>/repo-rhel5.5s-x64/iso/RPM-GPG-KEY-redhat-release enabled=1 –  Maher Manoubi Feb 13 '13 at 18:24

the baseurl and gpgkey have internal links, not sure that matters –  Maher Manoubi Feb 13 '13 at 18:27
